Tickfaw
is a village of approximately 617 residents, located in Tangipahoa Parish, Southeastern Louisiana. It is just minutes to the city of Hammond. Tickfaw village is mainly known for Tickfaw State Park, a 1,200-acre park that features backwater swamps and dark-watered sloughs that form the wetland network created by the Tickfaw River. Visitors can stroll through four ecosystems over a mile of boardwalks through Tickfaw State Park. Here they will experience the sights and sounds of a cypress-tupelo swamp, a mixed pine-hardwood forest, a bottomland hardwood forest and the Tickfaw River. In the park, Snowy Egrets and Great Blue Herons can be seen gathering crawfish and other food and you can expect sightings of alligators, turtles, snakes, songbirds, wild turkeys and migratory waterfowl, beaver, coyote, deer, fox and more - all less than an hour from Louisianas capital city. The beautiful Tickfaw River offers swimming, fishing and boating. Other nearby places to explore include the Global Wildlife Center, Lake Maurepas, Lake Pontchartrain and the Gulf of Mexico beaches. The tiny village of Tickfaw is a quiet, quaint and charming vacation getaway, just 40 minutes to Baton Rouge and one hour to downtown New Orleans.

Southeast Louisiana , near the Gulf Coast, has a warm year round climate with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Semi-tropical conditions prevail in most areas of the state, but especially in southeast Louisiana, which is greatly influenced by the Gulf of Mexico. This region experiences over 180 days of sunshine annually and abundant rainfall, often as a spin-off from tropical storms. Snow and ice are rarities in Louisiana. During the summer and fall, tropical storms and hurricanes frequently batter the state, especially along the coast, and can cause severe flooding.
